Footsteps for Freedom


The City of Round Rock and the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to "adopt" 700 soldiers out of Fort Hood. As they deploy to Iraq this June, the Mayor's Council on Fitness encourages you to get in shape with our dedicated soldiers in mind. The Fitness Challenge is only five weeks - from June 1-July 2. To participate, join the "Footsteps for Freedom" team at Texasroundup.org. Through this Web site, you can log in your exercise hours and qualify to earn a medal of honor from the Round Rock Mayor. Round Rock Resolution Finale

Round Rock Gets Fit!

Mayor Nyle Maxwell invited all those who participated in the Round Rock Resolution Fitness Challenge to come on out March 8, 2008 to the Round Rock Express Open House and join him in a Fun Walk around the ball park. Over 200 residents participated in the Resolution Challenge and those who showed up to the Fun Walk received Certificates, goodie bags, and much deserved recognition for their commitment to the Challenge. It was a beautiful day and a great way to celebrate everyone's accomplishment. Good job Round Rock!

Fitness Challenge / Texas Round-Ip


The Round Rock Resolution Fitness Challenge

Mayor Nyle Maxwell challenged residents of Round Rock to a six-week fitness challenge. Over 200 participants signed up for the Round Rock Resolution Fitness Challenge through the Texas Round-Up webpage and tracked their activities on-line. The challenge was held from January 21, 2008 through March 1, 2008. Participants were then invited to celebrate their accomplishment by joining Mayor Maxwell on March 8 in a Fun Walk around the Round Rock Express ballpark to receive Certificates and be recognized for their achievement.


The Texas Round-Up

Round Rock is an affiliate city of the Texas Round-Up. Created by Governor Rick Perry, the Texas Round-Up is a statewide fitness program to encourage all Texans to improve their health through the education and promotion of physical activity and healthy living. The Texas Round-Up will host a Fitness Festival in Austin on April 26. For more information on the Texas Round-Up visit http://www.texasroundup.org/.
